Rio Arriba Adult  Literacy Program News

Volunteer Adult Literacy Tutor, Ernest Cata, was named state-wide "Tutor of the Year" by the New Mexico Coalition for Literacy at their annual conference last month.  Ernest and his adult literacy student, Jose Martinez, have been meeting at the library two or three times a week for the past two years.  As a New Mexico Coalition for Literacy award reciepient, Ernest received a lovely plate, decorated by Espanola Public Library's head Librarian, Sherry Aragon.

We envision a community where all adults have the literacy skills that enable them to achieve their personal and professional goals.

Our Mission

We provide free, one-to-one tutoring for adults reading at or below 6th grade level. We work with both Basic Literacy students and new English learners.
